Ukraine's Kharkiv hit by 2 waves of Russian drone attacks overnight, rescue operations continue

During the night of May 19, Russian forces attacked the Kholodnohirskyi and Novobavarskyi districts of Kharkiv with drones. Fires broke out, and more than 10 residential buildings were damaged. Two people were rescued, while another person may still be trapped under rubble, according to Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov and Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov.
First wave
First strikes were recorded in Kholodnohirskyi and Novobavarskyi districts. In Novobavarskyi district, a drone hit a civilian infrastructure facility, causing a fire. Emergency services immediately began working at the scene.
Repeated attack
Around 5 a.m., Russian forces launched another attack on the Novobavarskyi district.
Two private houses caught fire, while more than ten others were damaged. Two people were rescued from one of the houses — a 47-year-old man who suffered glass injuries and a 50-year-old woman who experienced an acute stress reaction.

Another person may still be trapped under rubble. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Information on the scale of destruction and the number of victims is being clarified.
At 6:45 a.m., Head of Kharkiv Regional Military Administration Oleh Syniehubov reported that a 73-year-old woman in Novobavarskyi district suffered an acute stress reaction as a result of an enemy drone strike. The victim received medical assistance.
Strikes on Ukrainian cities continue almost every night. On May 18, Russia attacked Chernihiv with drones, hitting an enterprise and a residential building.
On the same day, Russia launched another combined attack on Ukraine, using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as more than 500 drones.
The main strike targeted the Dnipropetrovsk region, with residential neighborhoods of Dnipro coming under attack.
