Herman Halushchenko is resigning as Ukraine's Minister of Justice amid the energy sector scandal, according to Ukraine's Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

Operation Midas

Earlier, NABU detectives, together with SAP prosecutors, uncovered an organized group operating in the energy sector that had built an illegal profit-making scheme.

Investigators found that scheme participants forced Energoatom partners to make unofficial payments to remain on the supplier list and avoid payment delays.

NABU clarified that the illicit funds were laundered through a Kyiv office belonging to the family of former MP Andrii Derkach.

According to RBC-Ukraine sources, the process was coordinated by businessman Tymur Mindich, a former partner of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The investigation also mentions Justice Minister Herman Halushchenko and several senior officials as connected to the organization’s activities.

On November 11, the company's supervisory board held an extraordinary meeting due to the corruption scandal in the energy sector. Following this, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced that the government had decided to terminate the powers of the current supervisory board of Energoatom ahead of schedule.

On November 12, it became known that Halushchenko was temporarily removed from his duties. The President emphasized that as part of cleaning up the sector, the government must consider their resignations.

More details on the exposed scheme and its participants can be found in the material by RBC-Ukraine.
