Ukraine's General Staff confirms strike on Russia's Afipsky oil refinery

The Ukrainian Armed Forces carried out successful strikes against two Russian oil and gas industry facilities. The Afipsky oil refinery and the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant were targeted, according to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
On the night of August 25, the Ukrainian military struck facilities at the Afipsky oil refinery in the Krasnodar Krai of Russia. A fire broke out on the refinery's grounds; the extent of the damage is currently being assessed.
This refinery is one of the largest in the region, with a design capacity of 6.25 million metric tons of crude oil per year. The plant produces diesel and gasoline components used to supply the Russians.
Strike on Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant
In addition, a successful strike on two U-272 gas separation units at the Astrakhan Gas Processing Plant on the night of August 24 has been confirmed.

This facility is part of the Gazprom system and has a design capacity of up to 12 billion cubic meters of gas and approximately 7.3 million metric tons of gas condensate per year. It produces commercial natural gas and stable gas condensate; gasoline, diesel fuel, and fuel oil; liquefied hydrocarbon gases; and technical sulfur.
The plant's products are used directly to supply the Russian Armed Forces, and technical sulfur is a critically important raw material for the manufacture of explosives.

Overnight, drones attacked the Rostov region and the Krasnodar Krai of Russia. Initially, explosions were reported near Novoshakhtinsk; later, a fire broke out near the Afipsky refinery.
