Ukraine's foreing minister receives Berlin's irritated comments on request to send Taurus
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba faces irked responses from the German government over Kyiv's request for Taurus missiles, as reported by Politico.
"Listen, I'm tired of answering this. Sorry. You can quote me, I don't mind. But every time I answer the question, I get irritated feedback from Berlin. Leave it to them. They put themselves in this situation. Let them find a way out," he said.
Taurus for Ukraine
Last year, Ukraine asked Germany for long-range Taurus missiles capable of destroying targets up to 500 kilometers away.
However, Berlin hesitates to comply. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz opposes it, citing the purported need for German soldiers' presence at the delivery sites.
Scholz also warned that if Ukraine Defense Forces were supplied with Taurus missiles, they could potentially strike targets in Moscow if improperly used.
Meanwhile, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski claimed that providing Taurus missiles would impact Ukraine's ability to defend itself.
Yet, Thorsten Frei, leader of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in Germany, believes Chancellor Scholz will eventually agree to supply Ukraine with Taurus missiles.
