Russian forces have been deliberately targeting oil and gas infrastructure facilities of Ukraine's Naftogaz Group in the Poltava and Sumy regions for the second day in a row, company CEO Sergii Koretskyi reports.

Aftermath of Russian attacks

According to the CEO, a gas production facility in the Poltava region that had been hit by the enemy throughout the previous day came under attack again. On the night of April 5, the Russian troops targeted it again using drones.

A strike was also recorded on another oil and gas facility in the Sumy region. The attack caused a fire at the site, and units of the State Emergency Service were deployed to extinguish it.

Koretskyi added that no employees were injured, as staff were in shelters during the air raid.

"For the second day in a row, Russian forces have been deliberately attacking the oil and gas infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group," the company head stressed.

Russian strikes on Naftogaz facilities

Russia targets Ukraine's oil and gas infrastructure on a regular basis. In particular, on April 4, Russian forces struck the company assets in the Poltava region twice, causing a fire.

As of March 29, the enemy had been hitting Naftogaz facilities for four consecutive days, concentrating its attacks on the Sumy region. In addition, on March 27, one of the gas production facilities in the Poltava region was forced to halt operations due to overnight shelling.

Naftogaz Group also reported in March that Russia is targeting oil transportation infrastructure in southern Ukraine, trying to block the supply route of non-Russian oil to European Union countries.
