Russian forces attacked a Naftogaz gas production facility in the Poltava region overnight. As a result of the strike, the site was forced to halt operations, and the facility suffered serious damage, according to Naftogaz.
“Russia is once again targeting the gas production infrastructure of the Naftogaz Group. Yesterday and overnight, our facility in the Poltava region, which ensures gas extraction, came under attack. We have significant damage. The enterprise has been shut down,” the company said.
It is noted that the attack caused a fire, which is being extinguished by units of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine. Company specialists are also working to deal with the aftermath.
“I thank the SES units for their quick and professional response. Since the beginning of this year alone, Russia has attacked Naftogaz infrastructure about 40 times,” said Serhii Koretskyi.
Strikes on Naftogaz infrastructure
As a reminder, on March 11, Russian forces carried out strikes for two consecutive days on Ukraine’s oil transport infrastructure in the south. The enemy aims to disrupt supplies of non-Russian oil to Europe.
It was also reported that on March 8, drones targeted Naftogaz gas production facilities in the Poltava region.
In addition, on the night of February 20, Russian forces also struck oil and gas infrastructure in the Poltava region with drones, hitting one of the facilities and causing a fire.
Earlier, on the morning of January 27, Russian troops attacked a critical Naftogaz infrastructure site in the Lviv region. The strike caused a fire and forced an immediate shutdown of technological processes.
