Poland's geopolitical future looks optimistic, but everything depends on the settlement on the front line in Ukraine, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk tells Gazeta Wyborcza.
Tusk's statement
According to him, if Ukraine loses the war, it will lead to a radical deterioration of the situation in Poland.
The Prime Minister stresses that Poland must strategically use its position in the region and continue to support Ukraine.
"Building strong, friendly partnerships with a sovereign Ukraine, without forgetting our interests, of course, is a great opportunity for Poland," Tusk says.
He stresses that Poland's future will look optimistic only if Ukraine does not lose the war and manages to overcome historical misunderstandings between the two countries.
"There are no objective reasons why Ukraine should lose," the head of government adds.
Tusk also comments on the incident on the night of September 9-10, when Russian drones violated Polish airspace.
The politician calls it a turning point in the conflict and acknowledged that the decision to shoot down the drones was a difficult one.
"No one wants to accidentally start World War III. But giving in and tolerating provocations is a road to nowhere," he says.
Recently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, referring to his own conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, said that Ukraine is ready to continue fighting Russia for another two to three years, but fears that the conflict could drag on for decades.
In addition, the Polish Prime Minister says that Europe is already in a state of a new type of war, so Western countries must realize the scale of the threat and unite in the face of danger.
