Europe is already in a state of a new type of war, so Western countries must recognize the scale of the threat and unite in the face of danger, The Guardian reports.

Speaking in Warsaw, Tusk outlined the security challenges facing Europe, stressing that the biggest and most important task of today’s leaders is to make the wider Western and transatlantic community realize that this is a war.

Polish Prime Minister added that Poland did not want this conflict and admitted it may seem strange, as it is a new type of war, but a war nonetheless.

Threat to Poland

On September 10, Russian drones massively violated Polish airspace, prompting the country to deploy fighter jets; four drones were shot down.

The next day, the country’s leaders met for an emergency session, and NATO activated Article 4, which provides for consultations among member representatives to address the threat.

Subsequently, Poland launched the Eastern Sentry operation, under which allied forces were deployed.

After repeated airspace violations in several European countries, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that objects posing a threat and entering the country’s territory would be shot down without discussion.

In response, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko warned he would "fight with everything we've got" if Poland shoots down Russian aircraft or other Russian objects.

Meanwhile, the US leader, Donald Trump, agreed that Russian aircraft would be shot down if they illegally crossed NATO borders.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Russian aircraft would be shot down if they began to attack.
