Ukraine's border guards down Russian fighter jet near Avdiivka
Ukraine's border unit destroyed a Russian combat aircraft near Avdiivka with an anti-aircraft missile system. Preliminarily, it appears to be a Su-25, as Andrii Demchenko, a spokesperson of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, says in a comment to RBC-Ukraine.
Border guards, as part of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, continue to repel attacks by Russian occupiers in the Avdiivka direction.
"Today, the border unit's MANPADS (man-portable air-defense system) shot down an enemy combat aircraft, presumably a Su-25 ground attack aircraft. The surface-to-air missile launched by the border guards from a portable system hit the aerial target," he said.
After the hit, the aircraft began to smoke, lose altitude, and disappeared behind the horizon.
Enemy losses in the war
As reported by the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Ukrainian soldiers eliminated an additional 660 Russian terrorists over the past day. Since the beginning of the war, the enemy has lost nearly 299,000 personnel.
In the Tavria direction, Ukrainian soldiers captured 13 more occupiers yesterday.
