The Defense Forces are testing specialized exoskeletons that help artillerymen carry heavy shells more easily. The technological solution is already being trialed under combat conditions in the Pokrovsk direction, according to the 7th Air Assault Brigade.

Testing on the front line

Service members of the 147th Separate Artillery Brigade are already using prototype exoskeletons in the Pokrovsk direction. The technology allows artillerymen to perform their tasks more efficiently, despite the heavy weight of the shells.

According to Colonel Vitalii Serdyuk, head of the Rocket Forces and Artillery Directorate of the corps, the daily work of the soldiers requires extraordinary effort.

"Every day, artillerymen endure intense physical strain. They carry 15–30 shells weighing 50 kg each. According to the test results, they get less fatigued, work faster, and maintain their combat readiness for longer," Serdyuk emphasized.

Technology capabilities

The introduction of exoskeletons is part of the techno-assault philosophy, which aims to ease human labor through innovation.

Key features of the equipment:

  • Reduces physical strain on the body by up to 30%;

  • Supports movement speeds of up to 20 km/h;

  • Has a range of 17 km.

"We are easing human overexertion with technological solutions," the corps’ press service noted.

Testing of advanced weapons in Ukraine

Ukraine has become a major global testing ground for modern weaponry. In particular, a special platform has been launched in the country for testing Western equipment under real combat conditions.

As part of defense cooperation, the German company Rheinmetall also presented a classified weapon — a state-of-the-art drone that is already undergoing trials on the front line.

Additionally, to enhance security both on the front line and in the rear, Ukraine is testing new systems for protection against enemy drones and ballistic missiles.
