Ukraine's air defense shot down Russian ballistic missiles overnight — Zelenskyy

On the night of Tuesday, September 29, Ukrainian air defenses shot down a Russian ballistic missile, according to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"There were successful interceptions last night, including of ballistic missiles. Thank you to everyone involved in our defense and to everyone who honors our agreements," the head of state says.
The President thanks American and Norwegian partners for the NASAMS system and the accompanying missile package. He also expresses gratitude to France and Germany for the missiles provided to Ukrainian air defense forces.
"Against the backdrop of Russia’s daily escalation, it is important that the protection of life receive continuous support and that such packages continue to arrive," Zelenskyy emphasizes.
Clearing up aftermath of Russian strikes
The head of state notes that efforts to clear up the aftermath of Russian shelling are ongoing.
"They are simply terrorists targeting life, our people, and purely civilian sites – day and night," he says.
The President reports that in Kyiv, the depot at the Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi station, data centers, business centers, and residential buildings were damaged. In the Odesa region, Russia struck an educational institution, a dormitory, and two foreign vessels.
"The Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Sumy, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Zhytomyr, Volyn, and Rivne regions also came under Russian attack last night. Energy facilities, substations, civilian businesses, and residential buildings were damaged," Zelenskyy reports.
Overnight and this morning, the Russians attacked Odesa and the surrounding region. Eight people were injured; a civilian enterprise was destroyed, and the port, a high school, and an animal shelter were damaged.
