Ukraine's air defense holds 74% efficiency despite Russian attacks surge - Army chief

Despite a 1.5-fold increase in Russian attacks, Ukraine's air defense forces are demonstrating a stable effectiveness rate of about 74%, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi reports.
Syrskyi noted that over the past month, the enemy has increased the number of deployed air attack assets by 1.3 times.
"And although our air defense demonstrates an efficiency of about 74%, we need to make additional efforts to protect the rear energy sector, critical infrastructure, and logistics," he explained.
According to the Commander-in-Chief, Russia is paying a high price for continuing its war of aggression against Ukraine.
"We have successes in implementing the DeepStrike program. Over the past month, the number of strikes on the territory of the Russian Federation has reached 70. We are destroying the production of fuel and lubricants, explosives, and other components of the Russian military-industrial complex in the aggressor state. In particular, oil refining in Russia has decreased by 21%," he noted.
In addition, Syrskyi announced the creation of a new branch of the military — drone-based air defense systems — within the Air Force.
"We are improving the assault troops system. We are forming the Cyber Forces Command. At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine continue optimizing military command bodies," he explained.
Attack on Ukraine on October 10
Today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that the Russians carried out a "cynical and calculated attack" using more than 450 drones and over three dozen missiles.
These strikes were aimed at facilities that ensure the normal life of Ukrainians.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha pointed out that Russian leader Vladimir Putin has once again returned to symbolism, as the occupiers carried out the strike on October 10 — the anniversary of the first massive attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in 2022.
It should also be noted that due to the Russian enemy attack, emergency power outage schedules have been introduced in several regions today.
