Ukrainian airborne assault troops carried out a successful offensive operation in the Oleksandrivka direction, liberating 745 square kilometers of territory, according to statements by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi on Telegram.

Results of the Ukrainian counteroffensive

Today, Zelenskyy received reports from:

  • Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi,
  • Chief of the General Staff Ihor Skybiuk,
  • Commander of the Air Assault Forces Oleh Apostol.

"Thanks to the active actions of our troops, we were able to inflict significant losses on the occupying force. Russian losses amounted to at least 9,550 personnel killed and more than 6,600 wounded," Zelenskyy said.

The president added that Ukraine had also expanded its pool of prisoners available for future exchanges.

Mykhailo Drapatyi added that between January and August, Ukrainian forces liberated 26 villages in the Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

"Air Assault Forces units, consisting of four brigades and two assault regiments, have taken control of about 15 square kilometers of our territory over the past week," Drapatyi said.

Earlier, RBC-Ukraine reported that some of Ukraine's long-range operations against Russia had been adjusted, while new strikes against enemy targets on Russian territory were approved. Zelenskyy stressed that the precision of such operations helps create conditions for potential diplomatic progress.

It was also reported that Mykhailo Drapatyi briefed the Ukrainian president on the defense of the Donetsk region and anti-ballistic capabilities. Personnel matters within the military were also discussed.

In addition, Drapatyi outlined his vision for Ukraine's victory in the war against Russia. It involves a clear course of action, including intensified operations across multiple domains and the use of asymmetric approaches.
