Zelenskyy discusses Donbas defense, announces upcoming military personnel decisions

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapatyi briefed the Ukrainian President on the defense of the Donetsk region and anti-ballistic measures. In addition, personnel issues within the military were discussed, according to Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"The Commander-in-Chief and I also discussed personnel issues in the Armed Forces of Ukraine that need to be resolved," the head of state emphasizes.
The President adds that special attention was paid to the defense of Kostiantynivka, Sloviansk, and the Donetsk region as a whole.
"I am grateful to all units that are fully carrying out their combat missions, repelling Russian assaults, eliminating infiltration attempts, and systematically destroying the occupiers," Zelenskyy notes.
The President emphasizes that there is an understanding of how to strengthen this front.
Tasks related to long-term sanctions against Russia were also discussed—the head of state noted that good results had been achieved regarding the Yaroslavl Oil Refinery and announced the continuation of the operation.
"Mykhailo also reported on his work related to anti-ballistic capabilities – his communication with the American side. We are working at every level to secure packages of air defense missiles. All our partners know what is needed and how this affects not only the saving of lives and the protection of our cities, but also Russia’s attitude toward diplomacy," Zelenskyy emphasizes.
Zelenskyy states that Ukraine can develop its own ballistic missiles and an anti-ballistic missile system. The head of state adds that Ukrainians possess the necessary scientific foundation and expertise.
According to the President, Ukraine expects to have its own ballistic missiles and missile defense system in place as early as 2026–2027.
