Zelenskyy unveils roadmap for Ukraine's ballistic missile and air defense

Only a very small number of countries in the world have succeeded in creating their own ballistic systems and developing anti-ballistic systems. Ukraine will be capable of doing so very soon, according to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The head of state held a meeting on the development of Ukrainian ballistics and the status of tasks under the FREYJA anti-ballistic program. In particular, the agencies involved reported on current needs and the stages of implementation to date.
The President emphasizes that only a very small number of countries in the world have managed to develop their own ballistics and anti-ballistic systems.
"Ukraine has this capability. Ukrainians have the necessary scientific foundation and expertise. We can state that our weapons manufacturers have also reached the required level. We expect Ukraine to achieve the necessary results in 2026–2027," Zelenskyy states.
He adds that during the meeting, a timeline was established and individuals were assigned responsibility for program components that require acceleration.
"During the meeting, we discussed the key challenges, namely access to critical components, additional steps in technological cooperation with partners, and the localization of production. I thank everyone involved who delivers on everything they promise on time. I am also grateful to our partners who are helping and who have themselves joined our main defense programs. FREYJA is making progress, and that is important," the head of state notes.
The President says that work with partners on PAC-2 and PAC-3 missiles was also discussed. He emphasizes that he expects results from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense in their communications with partners.
Zelenskyy's advisor reported that Russia was capable of launching about 100 ballistic missiles at Ukraine every month. Therefore, strikes on businesses, warehouses, manufacturing facilities, and so on will continue.
In addition, Zelenskyy suggested that Kyiv may receive fewer air defense missiles due to attempts by the West to make it more compliant.
