Ukraine reveals budget priorities for 2024: missiles and ammunition

The purchase of missile weapons and ammunition will be one of the priorities of the defense budget of Ukraine for 2024, the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine reports.

"One of the main priorities of the defense budget for 2024 is missile weapons and ammunition," says Deputy Defense Minister Yurii Dzhyhyr.

According to him, approximately 175 billion hryvnias will go in this direction from the funds planned for 2024. For military equipment - about 80 billion hryvnias.

The next priority is the ongoing repair of damaged military equipment and the purchase of spare parts for it.

"The government has set the ministry the task of contracting weapons and military equipment from the Ukrainian manufacturer as much as possible. And according to our estimates, more than 190 billion hryvnias of the funds that will be contracted next year will remain with the domestic manufacturer," Dzhyhyr says.

The budget of the Ministry of Defense

According to the press service of the Ministry of Defense, the expenses of the Ministry of Defense will amount to 1 trillion 164 billion hryvnias, of which:

• 862 billion hryvnias - for maintenance of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the State Special Transport Service. This money will be used to pay stipends and salaries, food, uniforms, ammunition, and personal protective equipment.
• 265.4 billion hryvnias - for purchasing weapons, equipment, UAVs, and ammunition, as well as restoring equipment damaged during hostilities.
• 36 billion hryvnias - for operational costs and reconstruction of the infrastructure of the Armed Forces.

The law on the state budget of Ukraine for 2024 adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on November 9 provides 94.3 billion hryvnias of additional funds for producing weapons and drones.
