Russian sources have circulated claims about the alleged capture of the village of Riasne in Ukraine's Sumy region and the destruction of Ukrainian forces. However, this is not true, the 14th Army Corps said.
What Russia is spreading
Reports have appeared in Russian sources and among military bloggers claiming that Ukraine allegedly lost control over the village of Riasne.
This was also presented as part of the creation of a so-called buffer zone along the border.
Statement by the 14th Army Corps
"The information massively circulated by enemy resources about the alleged capture of the village of Riasne in the Krasnopillia community of the Sumy region by units of Russia's 34th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade and the 'destruction' of Ukrainian forces is another information and psychological operation and does not correspond to reality," the statement said.
The Defense Forces emphasized that the settlement remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and that the situation is fully under control.
Ukrainian units are holding defensive positions, carrying out containment operations, and inflicting heavy personnel losses on Russian forces, the military added.
The Joint Forces Grouping also added that Russian claims about the "successes" of units of the 34th Separate Motorized Rifle Brigade are media manipulation aimed at concealing their own failures.
The military urged people to trust only official sources and avoid spreading Russian disinformation aimed at masking the lack of real battlefield success through media manipulation.

Situation on the front line
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are currently seizing the initiative on the front line — in recent months, Ukrainian troops have achieved their greatest successes since the incursion into the Kursk region in August 2024.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian troops are achieving their designated goals in the border areas of the Sumy region.
Earlier, the Air Assault Forces reported that the Russian forces' immediate objective is the capture of one of two regional centers — Sumy or Kharkiv. The Defense Forces are already recording enemy attempts to advance toward one of them.
