The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to allocate UAH 400 billion to finance the security and defense sector. This proposal will be reviewed by the Verkhovna Rada, Ukraine's parliament, Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced during the national telethon broadcast.

"This year, as a government, we plan to attract $39 billion in external financing. That is just for 2025. And of course, we are working with partners to secure additional funding and ensure stability in 2026," said Svyrydenko.

According to her, all social obligations to Ukrainians will be fulfilled by the government.

"As a government, as a state, we will fully meet all social obligations to Ukrainians. All scheduled payments in August will be made on time," she emphasized.

Svyrydenko stated that it is currently planned to add UAH 400 billion to the state budget, which will be used to finance the security and defense sector.

"We also expect the Verkhovna Rada to consider amendments to the state budget. We plan to add UAH 400 billion to finance the security and defense sector," Svyrydenko noted.

Meanwhile, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his evening address that Svyrydenko briefed him on the draft decisions.

"In particular, there are changes to the budget to guarantee all necessary payments to our soldiers and the families of fallen warriors: there were certain details that require legislative decisions. I expect the members of parliament to support this," Zelenskyy said.

Svyrydenko's appointment

On July 17, the Verkhovna Rada (the Ukrainian Parliament) appointed a new Prime Minister of Ukraine. The position was given to Yulia Svyrydenko, who previously served as Minister of Economy.

She has already made a statement regarding the first week of work of the new Cabinet — several important decisions were made, concerning both the economic and defense sectors.
