Ukraine producing nearly 20 Bohdana howitzers per month, Zelenskyy says
Ukraine produces nearly 20 Bohdana self-propelled howitzers per month, aided in part by a financial program from Denmark, says Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
Zelenskyy spoke about the so-called "Danish model," which allows for funding from partners specifically for Ukrainian defense production.
"In particular, we are producing artillery — almost 20 Bohdanas per month, with good results in other areas as well. There will be more results. Shells, equipment, drones — everything necessary. I am grateful to everyone who is helping us," emphasized the head of state.
What is Bohdana self-propelled howitzer?
Bohdana is a Ukrainian self-propelled howitzer with a 155mm gun, which meets NATO standards. It is operated by a crew of five, with a maximum speed of 80 km/h. The unit can strike targets up to 60 km away.
Development of the howitzer began in 2015 at the Kramatorsk Heavy Machine Tool Plant, and it was officially adopted by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in 2023.
This spring, up to 8 Bohdana howitzers were produced per month.
However, by mid-summer, Denmark funded and ordered the production of 18 Bohdanas.
