Russia hits Ukraine's Mykolaiv with missiles: Police release first footage of strike

The National Police of Ukraine released footage capturing the first minutes after the Russian missile strike on Mykolaiv during the night of August 3. The attack targeted residential neighborhoods, reports Oleksii Biloshytskyi, First Deputy Head of the Patrol Police Department of Ukraine.
"Last night, the enemy again launched a missile strike on peaceful civilians. The attack damaged apartment buildings, private houses, and vehicles in Mykolaiv. There are civilian casualties," the statement said.
According to Biloshytskyi, patrol officers were the first to arrive at the strike site, together with rescuers and medical personnel. The police provided assistance to the injured, organized passage for emergency vehicles, secured the perimeter, and maintained public order.
"Friends, do not ignore air raid signals. If you hear sirens, go to shelters. This can save lives," he added.
The missile strike on Mykolaiv took place late on August 2. A strategic Tu-22M3 bomber, armed with supersonic Kh-22 cruise missiles, launched the attack.
Minutes later, a powerful explosion rocked the city. It sparked a large fire and caused significant damage to residential areas. The strike also cut power to parts of Mykolaiv and the Kherson region. The State Emergency Service of Ukraine later confirmed the missile hit civilian infrastructure.
