Ukraine plans 30-kilometer Kill Zone to trap Russian forces

The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine announced plans to build continuous drone lines up to 30 kilometers long. The goal is to block Russian advances and push the Kremlin back to the negotiating table.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal said Kyiv's priorities are saving soldiers' lives, strengthening air defenses, and expanding long-range strikes.

To achieve this, Ukraine needs:
- FPV drones;
- Robotic systems;
- Shells;
- Air defense systems;
- Interceptor drones.
"We must create what is called a Kill Zone. These are drone lines covering 10, 15, or even 30 kilometers. They make enemy advances impossible," Shmyhal explained.
He also stressed defense innovation. Venture-style funding for startups has accelerated the development of Ukrainian arms.
An innovation center in Kyiv already supports these projects. Ukraine is prepared to establish joint ventures with European countries and attract foreign investment.
Drone production in Ukraine
Earlier this year, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Ukraine plans to produce hundreds, and eventually thousands, of interceptor drones. This should increase the number of Russian Shahed drones shot down. He added that Ukraine is ready to sign contracts for all available priority drone types. Production is expected to exceed previous targets.
Zelenskyy also said Ghana is prepared to fund drone production for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Recently, Ukrainian company Frontline signed a strategic deal with German-Ukrainian manufacturer Quantum Systems. The partnership will expand production in Ukraine and deepen integration into the European defense industry.
Trump's Special Envoy, Keith Kellogg, noted that drones have become a key weapon in the war, capable of destroying armored vehicles from above. He said Ukraine has made significant progress in this field and now even surpasses the United States.
