Ukraine notifies European Commission of suspension of truck traffic to Poland
No permits are required for bilateral freight transportation, as demanded by the Polish customs authorities at the checkpoints. Currently, the Ukrainian side has already informed the European Commission about the suspension of truck traffic, stated the Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development of Ukraine Serhiy Derkach.
"No permits are required for bilateral transportation. The agreement on the liberalization of freight transportation between Ukraine and the EU came into force on the day of signing. That is, on June 20. A transitional period is in effect until July 10, which allows carriers to adapt to the new rules," Derkach emphasizes.
He noted that the Polish side was also aware of this, primarily the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland.
"The Polish side, like all other EU member states, was informed through official channels about the update of the Agreement between Ukraine and the European Union," Derkach said.
He noted that currently, this issue is only a matter of internal communication on the Polish side.
"We have contacted the Ministry of Infrastructure of Poland. Our colleagues assure us that they are trying to solve the problem with the customs service," said the Deputy Minister.
At the same time, he said that the Ukrainian side had also informed the European Commission about the suspension of truck traffic.
"The European Commission has already intervened in the situation and is also trying to influence the solution of the problem," Derkach summarized.
Today, on July 1, Poland restricted the passage of Ukrainian trucks that do not have permits for international cargo transportation.
The day before, we reported that Poland had also recently suspended cargo transportation for vehicles from Belarus and Russia.
