Thanks to diversification, Ukraine could receive 1 billion cubic meters of US liquefied natural gas (LNG) via the Polish route. The deliveries are planned for 2026, according to the Naftogaz website.

It is noted that on November 7, a preliminary statement of intent was signed in Greece with the Polish energy company ORLEN. Under the agreement, Ukraine is expected to receive 300 million cubic meters of LNG in the first quarter of 2026 alone.

"This year, as part of our cooperation with ORLEN, 600 million cubic metres of American LNG will be delivered to Ukraine. Overall, in 2026, we expect US LNG imports to reach 1 billion cubic metres. I am grateful to our Polish partners for their trust," said Naftogaz CEO Sergii Koretskyi.

The gas will undergo regasification at the Świnoujście terminal in Poland before being transported to Ukraine.

Last week, Ukraine and Greece signed an agreement for a new energy route from Alexandroupolis to Odesa.

Ukraine is expected to receive American natural gas through the Greek port, with transit via Romania, Bulgaria, and Moldova soon.

President Zelenskyy confirmed that the first deliveries via this route will start in January 2026.

According to the Greek operator DEPA, the agreement covers winter deliveries from December 2025 to March 2026. Athens also views the new route as a step toward strengthening regional energy cooperation and Europe’s energy security.

Additionally, it was reported that the Ukrainian company DTEK imported its first batch of American LNG via the Lithuanian terminal in Klaipeda.

The shipment totaled around 100 million cubic meters, or 1 terawatt-hour. DTEK plans to supply gas to Ukraine, the Baltic countries, Poland, and other Eastern European markets.
