"There’s just one item on the agenda when the EU’s defense ministers gather in Brussels for a Foreign Affairs Council: support for Ukraine," Politico writes.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, appointed last month after serving as Minister of Digital Transformation, is expected to attend the meeting and inform the bloc's Defense Ministers about his country's most urgent needs ahead of the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion.
"Fedorov is likely to request additional air defense missile systems, including Patriots and NASAMS, which have long been at the top of Kyiv’s wish list," the agency reports.
The meeting will also discuss cooperation in the field of defense innovation, including drones and new military technologies.
Russian attacks on Ukraine
Throughout the winter, Russia has been systematically attacking Ukraine's energy infrastructure. Thermal power plants and thermal power stations that provide heating to Ukrainian cities, as well as energy hubs and power lines, have been targeted.
The occupiers are using a wide range of missile weapons for their attacks. Among the debris, both the latest experimental models and missiles manufactured at the beginning of 2026 have been found.
Recently, Yurii Ihnat, Head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force Command, noted that Russia was increasingly using ballistic missiles. Due to the limited range of Patriot systems, it is practically impossible to protect all cities at the same time.
