Ukraine liberates three key Donetsk villages in daring counterattack

Ukrainian forces launched successful counterattacks in the Donetsk region, liberating three settlements from Russian forces, reports Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.
"I am operating in combat zones. The Pokrovsk direction is the most difficult. Defending Ukraine's independence and flag is not just high words. It is a daily risk and a daily act of courage," Syrskyi said.
During his visit, he awarded the best soldiers for their resilience, bravery, and exemplary fulfillment of military duty.
"Our troops successfully counterattacked and drove out Russian forces from villages in Donetsk – Mykhailivka, Zelenyi Hai, and Volodymyrivka. Once again, I express my deep gratitude to our brothers and sisters in arms for their actions during these critical, decisive days," he added.

Syrskyi also worked at command posts of units carrying out combat missions in the Pokrovsk direction. He listened to reports from corps and brigade commanders on the operational situation.
"The situation is truly challenging. The enemy has concentrated its main efforts on this section of the front. But we must hold the line. Support for organizing combat operations will be provided. Issues regarding additional ammunition, drones, and electronic warfare equipment have been resolved," he said.

Earlier today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukrainian defenders achieved positive results in Donbas. He added that Russian forces should expect "unpleasant surprises" ahead.
Yesterday, the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported regaining control over the village of Zelenyi Hai in the Donetsk region.
Earlier, Ukrainian troops cleared six positions in the Donetsk region. Defense forces continue stabilization operations in the so-called Dobropillia salient.
