Ukraine holds its own cards — EU ambassador on attack on Russian airfields

The Ukrainian drone attack on Russian strategic bombers proves that Ukraine has 'cards in its hand', stated EU Ambassador to Ukraine Katarína Mathernová.
The diplomat emphasized that yesterday's Ukrainian strike on Russian airfields sparked admiration around the world.
Mathernová noted that the targets of the attack were airfields used by Russian strategic bombers to launch strikes against Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, including children and hospitals.
"That is why it's important to acknowledge: no, Russia does not hold all the cards — Ukraine has cards of its own," the ambassador added. "It has a strong defense industry, is capable of innovation, and has the potential to carry out such operations."
Trump's statement
US President Donald Trump had a disagreement with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy when the latter visited the White House at the end of February.
At the time, the American leader claimed that the Ukrainian president had "no cards,” and that all the trump cards belonged to Russia.
However, on June 1, Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) carried out a special operation in which dozens of Russian strategic bombers were targeted.
According to Vasyl Malyuk, the head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), a total of 41 enemy aircraft were hit. These included A-50s, Tu-95s, Tu-22M3s, and Tu-160s.
