Ukraine holds another round of negotiations with Netherlands on security guarantees
The Ukrainian delegation held another round of negotiations with the Netherlands regarding bilateral security guarantees in Kyiv, according to the Office of the President of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian negotiating team was headed by the deputy head of the Office of the President Ihor Zhovkva.
He thanked the Dutch side for the EU's approval on February 1 of an extremely important decision on the creation of a new financial instrument for Ukraine, the Ukraine Facility, worth up to EUR 50 billion for 2024-2027.
"Continuous support and cohesion of the EU are critically important for our economic and financial stability, as well as military aid and sanctions pressure on the aggressor. All this brings our joint victory closer," Zhovkva emphasized.
Finalization of agreement is underway
The parties thoroughly discussed the revised draft of the relevant security agreement and agreed on positions on individual elements of the document.
The participants noted the achieved progress and agreed on the schedule of further actions regarding the finalization of the bilateral agreement.
Security guarantees for Ukraine
In July of last year, the G7 countries approved a declaration promising to provide security guarantees to Ukraine. More than 30 countries have already joined it.
A number of states have started negotiations with Ukraine on security guarantees on a bilateral basis. And on January 12, the UK became the first country to sign a similar agreement with Ukraine.
Representatives of Ukraine and Canada also held another round of negotiations on the conclusion of a bilateral agreement on security obligations between the states.
