Ukraine hits Russian Leningrad refinery for the third time in 2025

On the night of October 4, the Kirishinefteorgsintez oil refinery in Russia's Leningrad region was attacked by Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO). The mission was conducted in coordination with the Russian rebel movement.
The military confirmed that the strike hit the LAB-LABS unit, which produces linear alkylbenzenes and linear alkyl aromatic sulfonates, and the ELOU-AVT-6 unit, responsible for water removal, salt separation, and primary oil processing.
This facility has caught fire for the third time in 2025.
"Successful special operations were preceded by precise coordination and planning between Ukraine's SSO and representatives of Chernyaya iskra ("Black Spark" -ed.)," the SSO said.
The attack and the subsequent fire at Kirishinefteorgsintez have been confirmed by both regional authorities and local residents.
The refinery is one of Russia's largest and most critical facilities, with a capacity of 20.1 million tons of oil per year. It produces gasoline, diesel fuel, aviation fuel, and other petroleum products.
Earlier, on the night of October 4, Ukraine's Defense Forces carried out strikes on several key Russian targets.
Previously, on the night of September 14, Ukrainian forces attacked the Kirish oil refinery in the Leningrad region with drones. Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, Commander of the Armed Forces of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces, noted that it is one of Russia's largest refineries, capable of processing up to 20 million tons of oil per year.
