Ukraine has handed over 30 Russian civilians to Russia. The return of Russian citizens took place over two days, according to the Khochu zhyt (I want to live) project on Telegram.

According to the project, 14 civilians were handed over to Russia yesterday, November 27. Another 16 people were returned to Russia today, November 28.

"Ukraine acts within the legal framework and international humanitarian law. Unlike the Putin regime, we do not treat people as hostages. Those Russian citizens who must leave the territory of Ukraine can do so without hindrance," the Khochu zhyt project said in its statement.

Return of Ukrainians from Belarus

On November 22, it became known that Ukraine had returned 31 civilians from Belarus, where they had been held and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 2 to 11 years.

Among those released were men and women aged 18 to 58 years old. Some of them suffer from serious illnesses, including cancer.

The Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War expressed gratitude to the US and President Donald Trump for facilitating the release of Ukrainian citizens held in Belarus.

Meanwhile, Deputy Head of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War and representative of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, Andrii Yusov, noted that the Ukrainians who were brought home had been held in Belarusian prisons mainly because of their pro-Ukrainian stance.

He clarified that preparations for such an operation had been lengthy and that it was carried out "as soon as a window of opportunity opened."
