Ukraine is facing a shortage of medics on the front line. Against this backdrop, the military command is calling for improvements in field medicine, according to Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The general stated that he held a separate meeting during which the problems of military medicine were identified and potential solutions were discussed.

"Among the top priorities is improving field medicine, particularly medical evacuation from the front line. In modern warfare, we must use, among other things, unmanned systems for this purpose," Syrskyi added.

He clarified that he had heard reports from the Commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the heads of medical services.

"The current staffing level of medical services allows tasks to be carried out as assigned. However, there is a shortage of medics at stabilization points. The segment of junior medical personnel — specifically combat medics — requires significant reinforcement," the general said.

According to him, to address the personnel issue, since May, 2% of graduates from basic general military training have been allocated for training as combat medics.

"But this is not enough, so we are seeking effective solutions and considering proposals from commanders of medical units and institutions to resolve this issue," the general emphasized.

He called on military medics to engage in an open discussion about existing problems and needs.
