Oil refinery hit in Tatarstan
A strike was recorded at the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, after which a fire broke out on the facility's premises.
The strikes were carried out on August 19 and during the night of August 20, 2026.
TANECO is capable of processing up to 16 million tons of crude oil annually. The refinery produces a wide range of petroleum products, including motor fuels, and supplies fuel to the Russian army.
Another strike hits terminal in Kuban
In addition to the refinery in Tatarstan, Ukrainian forces struck the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in the settlement of Volna in Russia's Krasnodar Krai. A fire also broke out there.
The terminal is one of Russia's key facilities in the Black Sea region.
"Tamanneftegaz is one of Russia's key oil terminals in the Black Sea region. The capacity of the Taman transshipment complex allows for the handling of up to 19.9 million tons of oil, petroleum products, and liquefied hydrocarbon gases annually," the General Staff said.
The General Staff clarified that the extent of the damage at both facilities is currently being assessed.
