Ukraine exchanges lists of prisoners of war with Russia
Ukraine has received lists of prisoners of war from Russia. Representatives from both sides met today, November 8, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, according to a statement from Ukrainian Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets.
With the assistance of the Belarusian side, on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, and with the participation of the ICRC, the Ukrainian Ombudsman met with the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights, Tatyana Moskalkova.
He reported that during the meeting, they exchanged lists of prisoners of war.
Additionally, Lubinets stated that he spoke with the leadership of the ICRC missions in Ukraine and Russia.
"I once again insisted on the ICRC’s access to Ukrainian prisoners of war and civilians! I emphasize that my interaction with the Russian Commissioner for Human Rights is aimed at resolving humanitarian issues, returning Ukrainians home, and obtaining information about our citizens in Russia," he stressed.
New format of communication with prisoners of war
The Ombudsman also stated that during the meeting, they initiated a new format.
"We exchanged letters. We delivered letters from Ukrainian relatives to Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russia," he explained.
It was also reported earlier today that 563 fallen defenders were returned to Ukraine today as a result of repatriation efforts.
