Ukraine repatriates bodies of 563 dead soldiers
Ukraine has recovered the bodies of 563 fallen defenders as a result of repatriation efforts. Among them are 320 defenders who perished in the Donetsk direction and 89 soldiers from the Bakhmut direction, according to the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War (KSHPPV).
Additionally, Ukraine managed to retrieve 154 bodies from morgues located on Russian territory.
The return of the bodies was facilitated through coordination among various organizations: staff from the Coordinating Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War worked in collaboration with the Joint Center of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Office of the Ukrainian Parliament Commissioner for Human Rights, the Secretariat of the Commissioner for Missing Persons under Special Circumstances, the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and other security and defense sector structures.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine are transporting the repatriated bodies to designated state facilities, where law enforcement officers and forensic experts will work to identify them.
On May 31, Ukraine recovered the bodies of 212 fallen servicemen who died in battles across various frontlines.
At the end of April, the bodies of 140 fallen soldiers were repatriated, most of whom had fought in Donetsk.
On August 2, Ukraine brought back another 250 bodies of fallen defenders.
On October 18, Ukraine managed to return 501 bodies of fallen defenders.
