Ukraine develops SIRENA - a new maritime trimaran drone equipped with powerful electronic warfare capabilities and missiles to target Russian aircraft, Militarnyi reports.

Features and capabilities of the drone

According to the outlet, the cutting-edge SIRENA unmanned trimaran was unveiled at the Eurosatory international defense exhibition in Paris. The platform was specifically designed for complex electronic warfare (EW) operations in confined and contested maritime areas.

The drone's defining feature is an integrated multi-band jamming system that operates across a wide frequency range from 300 to 6000 MHz. This allows the system to simultaneously block enemy communications, GNSS navigation signals, and control channels of other UAVs.

The effective radius for electronically suppressing enemy assets reaches up to 30 kilometers. For navigation and self-protection, the trimaran is equipped with a Pelican V1 radar and a Scorpion V5 EW system, which can effectively disrupt enemy autopilots and counter Shahed-type kamikaze drones.

Armament and technical specifications

In addition to its jamming systems, the drone is heavily armed to counter aerial targets:

  • Launcher: Equipped with a SeaDRAGON launcher.

  • Armament: Capable of deploying AIM-9M Sidewinder air-to-air missiles to target enemy aircraft.

  • Maximum speed: Up to 90 km/h.

  • Payload capacity: Up to 300 kilograms.

The SIRENA can execute combat missions in autonomous, semi-autonomous, and remote-controlled modes. It can operate continuously for up to 24 hours, providing coastal defense and reconnaissance at ranges of up to 800 kilometers from the command post.

The evolution of Ukrainian MilTech

Ukrainian developers recently presented another unique autonomous system for the front lines. The company Global Mark created the Sea Trident underwater drone, which is adapted for fully autonomous missions and can covertly strike strategic targets at long distances without being detected by enemy radars.

Furthermore, domestic defense companies are actively integrating artificial intelligence into new technologies.
