Ukraine develops Mavic drone analogs: Media reveals specifications
Ukrainian manufacturers have developed several analogs of the Chinese Mavic drones. The drones have already been presented to the military, according to Ukrainian Minister for Strategic Industries, Herman Smetanin, and Defence Express.
Smetanin stated that Ukraine has developed drones with tactical and technical specifications matching those of Mavic.
According to him, over the weekend, eight manufacturers gathered to present their drones. Two of them have already been codified. Six teams completed flight missions, including a 10 km flight at an altitude of over 250 meters and a target search.
The performance of the drones was demonstrated to the General Staff, the command of the UAV Forces, the Logistics Forces Command, state procurement officials, and military units.
“The military assessed the quality of the products and also discussed the specifications, features, and production capabilities with the manufacturers,” the Minister noted.

Meanwhile, Defence Express claims that while the new Ukrainian drones are marketed as Mavic alternatives, they are not true equivalents, as they are designed for the battlefield.

According to the agency, all the presented drones have the following specifications:
- Air time: 40-60 minutes
- Payload: 1-3 kg
These drones can be used for both surveillance and ammunition drops. Additionally, all models feature solutions for operation in electronic warfare conditions.
Drone production in Ukraine
Ukraine is significantly increasing drone production amid the war with Russia.
As reported by the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine in October, drone production in 2024 has increased tenfold compared to 2023.
