Ukraine has appealed to the IAEA to urgently convene the Board of Governors following Russia's latest massive attack on the power grid, according to Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Energy Mykola Kolisnyk.

The Deputy Minister of Energy of Ukraine reported that the situation in the power system remains difficult after Russia's night attack. According to him, last night the enemy fired 45 missiles of various types, of which more than 30 were ballistic and cluster missiles.

According to Kolisnyk, the Russian attack was one of the most technologically complex, as Russia is deliberately targeting key elements of the power grid's technological infrastructure using intelligence data.

"Russia is using intelligence data to strike precisely at key elements of the power system's technological scheme," the Deputy Minister emphasizes.

Separately, the Deputy Minister drew attention to Russia's targeted strikes on substations that supply the Khmelnytskyi and Rivne nuclear power plants.

Damage to these lines forces nuclear power plants to temporarily reduce production to avoid the risk of emergencies and cascading shutdowns in the system.

He notes that the Ministry of Energy is in constant contact with IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi.

"Ukraine has appealed to the Agency to urgently convene the Board of Governors. The aim is to develop mechanisms to prevent Russian attacks on critical infrastructure and to increase international pressure on nuclear and radiation safety issues," the Ministry of Energy says.

Electricity situation

On Monday, November 10, the situation in Ukraine's power system remains difficult due to the consequences of Russian shelling. During the day, Ukrenergo reported new damage to facilities.

On the night of November 8, Russians launched a massive attack on Ukraine, striking energy infrastructure and residential areas.

At the same time, power outages were introduced in a number of regions due to the Russian attack. At the same time, due to the Russian terrorist attack, all Centrenergo thermal power plants have stopped and are currently not generating electricity.

Today, extended power outage schedules will be in effect in Kyiv and most regions of Ukraine.
