Ukraine brings back another 12 children from occupied part of Kherson region
It was possible to return another 12 children from the temporarily occupied part of the Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine, according to the head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration, Oleksandr Prokudin.
"Three boys and nine girls, aged 2 to 17 years old, were evacuated from the temporarily occupied Kherson region. One of them is deprived of parental care," Prokudin reported.
He noted that the rescue of the children was carried out by the charitable organization Save Ukraine.
"It is thanks to their persistent work that the children and their parents are now on free land and safe. They are being assisted by specialists," added the head of the Regional Military Administration.
According to Prokudin, since the beginning of 2024, it has been possible to return 120 children from the occupied Kherson region to the territory controlled by Ukraine.
Deportation and return of Ukrainian children
Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Russians have been deporting Ukrainian children en masse to Belarus, the Russian Federation, and to the occupied Crimea. They also keep them in temporarily occupied territories.
According to the Ukrainian ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets, Russia illegally deported over 19,000 Ukrainian children.
The deportation of Ukrainian children became the reason for issuing an Interpol Red Notice for the arrest of Vladimir Putin and the authorized representative for children's rights in the Russian Federation, Maria Lvova-Belova.
At the same time, Ukraine manages to bring children back home.
Recently, Ukraine returned three more children from the temporarily occupied territories controlled by Russia, one of whom is an orphan.
