Ukraine backs US strikes on Iran, calling for similar stance with Russia

Ukraine supports the US strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities, stating that Iran's nuclear weapons program must be brought to an end. Kyiv also expressed hope that Western nations will demonstrate similar determination in confronting the Russian regime, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine reports.
"Ukraine is convinced that Iran's nuclear program must be brought to an end so that it never again poses a threat neither to the countries of the Middle East nor to any other state," the Foreign Ministry's statement says.
The report notes that years of peaceful efforts to halt Iran's nuclear program have produced no results. It was Iran's policy, marked by the aggressive actions of its regime and its hostility toward many other nations, including Israel, that led to the current escalation in the Middle East.
"Iran is complicit in the crime of aggression against Ukraine. The Iranian regime is providing military assistance to Russia, including the supply of UAVs and technologies that Russia consistently uses to kill people and destroy critical infrastructure," the Ministry reminded.
The Ukrainian side added that the US and Israeli strikes should serve as a strong signal to Iran that the continuation of its current policies is unacceptable. The statement called on Tehran to stop aiding Russia before it's too late. It also expressed hope that the same level of determination will be shown in the fight against the Russian regime.
"Bringing an end to Russia's aggression against Ukraine also requires determination, leadership, and increased pressure on those who fail to demonstrate constructiveness in the pursuit of peace. This primarily involves sanctioning Russian oil revenues and its military budget, increasing pressure on Russia, and boosting Ukraine's defense capabilities," the statement says.
US attack on Iran
On the night of June 22, the United States launched strikes on Iran's nuclear facilities. According to Donald Trump, Iran's nuclear program has been destroyed. The strikes involved super-heavy GBU-57A/B MOP (Massive Ordnance Penetrator) anti-bunker bombs. Preliminary assessments indicate that all three targeted sites suffered severe damage.
Iran claims that the US strike caused no significant damage or losses. Moreover, despite US demands, Iran has announced retaliatory action and the Iranian parliament has preliminarily approved the closure of the Strait of Hormuz - a major global shipping route.
