Today, Russia was presented with a proposal for a complete 30-day ceasefire, starting from May 12. Ukraine is currently awaiting a concrete response from Moscow, informs Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Brusylo during the broadcast.

"We define this very simply. This proposal was announced today. It was accepted and developed by the leaders of the free world. Today, Ukraine is the center of global events, so Russia must respond to the proposal formed by the majority of leaders, which was supported and clearly stated," said Brusylo.

He emphasized that the ceasefire will be valid starting from Monday, May 12. If Russia does not agree, Western leaders will be able to meet again and decide on the next steps regarding Moscow. However, as of now, Ukraine is awaiting a response.

"This ceasefire, this silence, will be valid starting Monday. If Russia does not agree to the terms of this silence — a ceasefire — the leaders will always be able to gather again in the same format they met today, hold a video conference, and decide on their next steps. As of now, we are waiting for a response from Moscow, a concrete reaction to an absolutely specific, clear, and understandable proposal — a 30-day silence without preconditions," concluded the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office.

Background

Today, May 10, a Coalition of the Willing meeting took place in Kyiv. After the meeting, the leaders held a phone call with US President Donald Trump, setting a deadline for Russia's agreement on a 30-day ceasefire in Ukraine.

Later, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that a full and unconditional ceasefire would begin on Monday, May 12. Should Moscow reject, new sanctions will await Russia.

Axios also reported that Zelenskyy informed Trump of his readiness for direct negotiations with Russia if the ceasefire is achieved.
