Ukraine asks partners for winter air defense package at Ramstein meeting

During the Ramstein meeting held today in Brussels, Ukraine appealed to its partners to provide a winter air defense package, stated Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal.
He said that during today's discussions, partners paid special attention to Ukraine's air defense needs.
"We asked our partners to provide a winter air defense package — a sufficient stock of interceptor missiles to protect our civilians and infrastructure," Shmyhal said.
The Defense Minister thanked all the countries that announced their commitments today to continue supplying the Ukrainian Armed Forces with the necessary support.
"I thank John Healey and Boris Pistorius for organizing the Ramstein meeting. Peace in Ukraine must be just, lasting, and safeguarded by international unity. Together, we are working to achieve it," Shmyhal noted.
Patriot systems for Ukraine
In September, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal stated that Ukraine urgently needs 10 additional Patriot systems to protect its skies from Russian ballistic missiles.
At the same time, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he expects a decision from the United States on supplying 10 Patriot systems.
The need for such systems has grown amid intensified Russian strikes on Ukraine, as Russia has increasingly targeted the country's energy infrastructure.
