Ukraine and UN launch platform for Ukrainians wishing to return from abroad
Ukraine, together with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, is launching the Ukraine is Home platform. It will help Ukrainians abroad who want to return to their homeland, according to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.
Today, July 18, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi.
Kuleba praised the work of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees in Ukraine, including the provision of a new package of assistance to prepare for the winter. The Minister also emphasized the importance of strengthening humanitarian response and support for Ukrainians affected by the Russian invasion.
Following the meeting, the Foreign Minister and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees announced the launch of the Ukraine is Home platform.
According to Kuleba, this platform will help people get reliable and up-to-date information on all issues related to returning to Ukraine, evaluate all the opportunities and benefits, and make a choice.
The Minister also called on the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to take decisive steps to protect Ukrainian children who have been illegally taken to Russia. This is necessary to prevent their adoption and ensure their safe return to Ukraine.
Returning Ukrainians home
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed confidence that all Ukrainians would return home after the war.
But, as the head of state noted, the country needs their return now, as the labor force is needed.
In turn, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba noted that the right tools should be found to help Ukrainians return home.
