The 100-year partnership agreement between Ukraine and the United Kingdom has officially come into force. The document secures the alliance between the two countries for decades to come, stated the Speaker of the Ukrainian Parliament, Ruslan Stefanchuk.

According to Stefanchuk, he handed over the text of the 100-year agreement, the law ratifying the agreement, and a note on the start of its implementation to Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the UK House of Commons.

"Today in London, the 100-year partnership agreement has officially come into force. This is a historic moment in strengthening political trust, strategic partnership, and the unbreakable friendship between our states," he said.

The Parliament Speaker noted that Ukraine and the UK have been through a lot together and are now fighting not only for Ukraine's freedom but also for the security of all of Europe and the global order.

"This agreement is not the beginning of our partnership; it strengthens it. It secures mutual support between our peoples for decades ahead, defines mechanisms for security cooperation, deepens military-industrial collaboration, and creates a new level of cooperation in the economy, energy, education, science, and Ukraine's recovery," Stefanchuk added.

He also emphasized that the agreement reflects trust and the alliance of two nations united by shared values: freedom, democracy, respect for the rule of law, and historical justice.

About the 100-year partnership agreement

On January 16, 2025, Ukraine and the United Kingdom signed the 100-year partnership agreement, which expands the framework of their cooperation for the next century and covers security, defense, economy, science, technology, and culture.

The Ukrainian Parliament ratified the agreement on September 17, 2025, with a majority of 295 deputies voting in favor.

Under the terms of the agreement, the UK commits to providing Ukraine with at least £3.6 billion in military aid annually until the 2030/31 financial year, and to continue supporting Ukraine as needed.

The agreement also provides for cooperation in key areas such as maritime security, joint production of defense equipment, and a program to track stolen grain from territories temporarily occupied by Russia.
