According to the SBU, after meeting the Ukrainian defenders at the border, the Joint Center, in cooperation with Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways), for the first time arranged rail transport to deliver the released soldiers to rehabilitation centers.
The SBU also noted that, as President Zelenskyy stated, Ukraine expects full implementation of the humanitarian agreements reached during the meeting in Istanbul.
"The life of every Ukrainian is of the highest value! We are working to fulfill the President's mandate and bring home all citizens of our country held in captivity," the SBU concluded.
Prisoner exchange
On July 4, Ukraine and Russia carried out another stage of their ongoing prisoner exchange. This was the eighth swap under the framework of the agreements reached in Istanbul in June.
In addition to military personnel, Ukraine was also able to bring home a special category of civilian detainees during this large-scale exchange.
The previous stage took place on Thursday, June 26, during which Ukraine secured the return of service members from the Navy, Ground Forces, Air Assault Forces, Territorial Defense Forces, as well as the National Guard and State Border Guard Service.
As with previous exchanges, the total number of individuals released has not been publicly disclosed.
