Ukraine and Portugal hold another round of security guarantees negotiations
Ukraine has held another round of talks with Portugal on a bilateral security agreement, according to the press service of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Today's round of talks was led by the Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ihor Zhovkva.
“We managed to make significant progress in this new round of negotiations. We anticipate the signing of the agreement by our leaders in the near future,” Ihor Zhovkva noted.
The parties continued their work on the draft document and agreed on a schedule of upcoming events at the highest level aimed at signing the agreement.
Security guarantees
Last year, at the NATO summit in Vilnius, the G7 countries signed a joint declaration on security guarantees for Ukraine.
The UK, Canada, Germany, France, Denmark, Italy, Finland, the Netherlands, and Latvia have already signed similar agreements with Ukraine.
Ukraine is also working with the United States to conclude a 10-year security guarantee agreement. The parties want to finalize the agreement this month.
