Ukraine and Hungary agree on regular talks to unblock EU path

Ukraine and Hungary will hold regular consultations to unblock the negotiations regarding Ukraine's EU membership, said Ukraine's Vice Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna.
"We have agreed that, starting from May 12, teams from both the Ukrainian and Hungarian sides, who were present in Budapest today, will work on a regular basis until we have addressed all the issues outlined in the eleven recommendations that are of concern to the Hungarian side," the official said, commenting on the results of her visit to Budapest.
The Vice Prime Minister clarified that Ukraine had prepared proposals for the Hungarian government that would help resolve the disputed issues.
According to her, this week, Ukrainian officials will work on Budapest's counterproposals. Preliminary results may emerge by May 12.
"I hope this dialogue will have a good chance of paving the way for unblocking the negotiation process," Stefanishyna stated.
She also noted that there were no sharp or radical statements from the Hungarian representatives during the talks.
Hungary blocks Ukraine's EU membership
Hungary is withholding its approval to begin negotiations on Ukraine's EU membership.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán even organized a public opinion poll to determine whether the country’s citizens support Ukraine’s EU accession.
Orbán himself stated on social media that he voted against Ukraine's membership in the European Union.
