Ukraine and Estonia discuss finalization of security guarantees agreement
On May 6, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Estonia Kaja Kallas. The parties discussed, in particular, the agreement on security guarantees, according to the President's X account.
Zelenskyy noted that he had told Kallas about the agenda of the peace summit in Switzerland and Russia's attempts to disrupt the event.
The Ukrainian president also informed the Estonian Prime Minister about the situation on the battlefield and the need for air defense by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"We discussed the finalization of our bilateral security agreement based on the G7 Vilnius Declaration," added Zelenskyy.
Security guarantees
Last year, Ukraine began discussing bilateral agreements on security guarantees with its Western allies.
Britain was the first country to sign such a document with Ukraine. This happened in early 2024.
The document covers defense and military cooperation and more. It is valid for 10 years or until Ukraine joins NATO.
