Ukraine has allegedly agreed to limit the number of its soldiers as a concession aimed at ending the war with Russia, according to the Financial Times.
Unnamed Ukrainian officials told the outlet that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and US President Donald Trump will have to discuss the most sensitive issues of the peace plan — territory and US security guarantees.
At the same time, according to them, Kyiv has "agreed to limit" the size of its army to 800,000 soldiers.
US peace plan
Last week, Western media published the US peace plan, which consists of 28 points.
According to rumors, one of the points envisioned limiting the size of the Ukrainian army to 600,000 soldiers. Other points were clear concessions to Moscow.
Ukraine sent a delegation to Geneva for talks with US officials to change the most controversial points of the peace plan.
After the talks, Oleksandr Bevz, adviser to the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, said that some points had been removed from the peace plan. Several others were also revised.
An informed source of RBC-Ukraine also stated that, following the meeting in Geneva, the peace plan should no longer include strict limits on the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Today, on November 25, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may visit Washington to meet with US President Donald Trump on the peace plan already "on the next available date in November."
