Ukrainan ex-official murdered in Madrid: Spain provides official information

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has received official information from Spain regarding the murder of former Ukrainian politician Andriy Portnov, states Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, according to My Ukraina.
According to him, the Spanish side provided "official formal information" regarding Portnov’s murder, as he was a citizen of Ukraine.
"Relevant procedures are currently underway, which require time before they can be made public — I mean, on the Spanish side. We have this information about the fact of the murder. Accordingly, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed all the relevant authorities for further response," Sybiha stated.
Portnov’s murder
On May 21 in Madrid, an unidentified individual shot and killed Andriy Portnov, a former advisor to ex-President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych. The incident occurred after Portnov had taken his two daughters to school.
According to preliminary information, the attacker fired nine shots. Moreover, not only the shooter but also two accomplices may have been involved in the murder.
As noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Embassy has taken the case under personal control.
The police continue to investigate and are searching for the perpetrators.
In particular, Spanish police believe that Portnov’s murder in Madrid bears the hallmarks of a carefully planned and contract killing.
