UK urges allies to boost Ukraine's air defenses before winter

In his newspaper column, Streeting emphasized the need to strengthen Ukraine's air defense and ensure a sufficient number of missiles to protect against Russian air attacks.

According to him, Ukraine's partners must act now so that Ukrainian air defense is properly prepared for the winter period.

The British minister called on allies to increase support for Ukraine specifically in the area of air defense. This primarily concerns the supply of missiles needed for air defense systems.

Streeting said the United Kingdom would provide the necessary resources where possible, while he would work to mobilize allies to secure additional support where Britain could not provide it directly.

Streeting also emphasized the importance of Ukraine receiving the necessary resources before the start of winter, when Russian strikes on infrastructure and other air attacks may place additional pressure on the air defense system.

Thus, the British government is urging partners not to delay preparations for the winter period and to strengthen Ukraine's ability to protect its airspace now.

Streeting's call comes amid Russia's ongoing aggression against Ukraine and the need to provide Ukrainian forces with the means to counter air attacks.

Ukraine's allies have previously provided Kyiv with air defense systems and missiles for them. However, according to the British minister, further increases in such supplies must be ensured ahead of winter.

Kyiv had previously hoped that Washington would issue a license for the production of missiles for Patriot air defense systems. However, according to media reports, the United States is not ready to take this step due to certain concerns.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump hinted that Ukraine could be granted licenses to produce PAC-3 missiles for Patriot air defense systems.
