UK urgently allocates £35 million to restore Ukraine's energy infrastructure
The United Kingdom is providing Ukraine with emergency support worth £35 million. The funds will be used to restore the country's energy grid, the UK government's press service reports.
The department noted that £20 million will be allocated to meet emergency energy needs. This includes support for critical repairs of the power transmission network and securing additional energy capacity. Funds will also be used to protect Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
In particular, this includes a project to generate an additional 20 MW of electricity, which can supply 20,000 homes with power.
An additional £15 million will be directed toward humanitarian aid for the most vulnerable segments of the population.
Furthermore, the UK is introducing new sanctions against Russia's energy sector.
UK aid to Ukraine
Earlier, the United Kingdom has provided substantial support by training Ukrainian troops, organizing large-scale training programs. London has also supplied Ukraine with NLAW anti-tank systems, long-range Storm Shadow missiles, and air defense systems.
The UK actively supports international sanctions against Russia and provides humanitarian aid to Ukrainian refugees.
Earlier, we reported that in July, the new UK Defense Secretary John Healey, during his visit to Odesa, announced a new military aid package for Ukraine, which included Brimstone precision missiles, ammunition, and artillery pieces.
